Writerly
I write because in my heart of hearts, I want you to see how I see. I don’t need converts; I need partners in good. I don’t think I have all the answers, but I do think I have some answers. There is no Truth: there are only truths, and I have a few to share. I wish to tap politely on the shoulders of your preconceived notions of the universe and ask them to sit down for a bit and let something new take the stage, however briefly. And, yes I want praise. I want recognition and an audience, but can that be a dialogue instead of idolatry? I know how to give; writing is my act of learning how to receive. I want to let you all in on my special brand of crazy so you can see that being a little crazy is okay, and hope that something in us both resonates.
And above and beyond all that, I have to tell stories. If you are a writer, you know the hunger. (It is writers who created the idea of vampires!) Every once in a while I try to not write. I am desperately thankful and relieved to say that I never once got not-writing to stick.
Below are links to the projects I am currently working on:
- the art of writing: this category includes all my posts on writing and containing my very own fiction (save for a selfish prayer for light).
- writerly Coquetteries: where I brush up on my writing to make it shine.
- Novel Work: I have two novels….well, officially two novels that I am working on. One is centered around the Oasis and certain characters who inhabit it. Another is an urban fantasy novel about a search for redemption from revenge that I’ve tentatively titled An Answer For Her.
And here is the list of stories I have already published, all under a former name:
- “Foresight“, sffworld.com
- “The Shape of Wishing”, MYTHOLOG, Autumn 2004
- “Selection Day”, The Pedestal Magazine, Political Anthology 2004
- “Blood Relations”, Twilight Times, Winter 2005
- “Lenny’s Dozens”, Amazing Journeys Magazine, Spring 2005
- “Infinite Variety In a Single Dance”, Aoife’s Kiss, March 2007
